What date is the 2012 CIO of the Year Awards?

Ans> October 12, 2012 - Cobb Galleria Centre, Atlanta, GA, 6:30AM - 9:30AM.

Must a CIO be a member of GCLA to be nominated for this coveted award?

Ans> No. Any deserving and qualified CIO is welcomed as a nominee, making it a great opportunity to recognize an organization for outstanding technology leadership.

How do I nominate a deserving a CIO?

Ans> Nominations must be submitted via the online form.  Nominations will be accepted as of Feb 16, 2012. The last day nominations will be accepted is March 15, 2012.

Our company is headquartered outside of Georgia, but we would like to nominate our CIO.

Ans> If your organization has a regional office in Georgia whose CIO meets the nomination requirements, then your participation will be welcomed.

Our company is headquartered in Savannah. Is this event only for Atlanta companies?

Ans> No. This event recognizes CIO leadership for all Georgia-based companies. A special effort is being made to include more representation from all around the state.

If only a few CIOs actually win an award, why do so many actively participate in this event?

Ans> Chief Information Officers have risen to a level of significant prominence within successful organizations over recent years. They are actively involved with executive-level strategy and in running business operations most efficiently. They elect to participate in events like the CIO of the Year® Awards because they fully understand the importance of building a strong community whose base is dependent upon the strength and quality of personal relationships with their peers and local technology service providers.

How are seats allocated for sponsors?

Ans> Each table seats ten, and sponsors have the option to retain all ten seats for their company and guests or they may retain five seats for their company and host a CIO plus team of four.

What is a CIO Team?

Ans> To facilitate information sharing and help extend the personal networks of a company's IT team (not just the CIO), CIOs attend the awards ceremony with four members of his/her staff. These five people are considered to be the "CIO Team". Each participating CIO Team will become the table guests of a designated sponsor.

Will sponsors be allowed to choose the CIO team who will become their table guests?

Ans> This is another positive feature for all sponsor packages. As each sponsor agreement is accepted, the sponsoring organization will be assigned a seniority position within their level. Once all sponsorships are secured, a list of participating CIO Teams will be presented to the sponsors. Match up to a CIO team will be made by sponsorship seniority. First in - first to choose.

What is the deadline for purchasing a sponsorship?

Ans> Availability of sponsorships will be determined by supply rather than deadline. Based upon the successful history of this program, the event management team anticipates all sponsorship positions will be reserved. Click here for Sponsorship Information.

We are a local service provider and have interest in sponsorship; will there be other opportunities to become involved with GCLA.

Ans> The GCLA holds events throughout the year, however, all other events are for members only. Events associated with the CIO of the Year® Awards program are only opportunities for non-member participation.

What is the Executive Dinner event associated the the CIO Awards?

Ans> The exclusive Executive Dinner event held prior to the CIO of the Year awards breakfast program serves to build awareness of key sources of knowledge and expertise while developing and strengthening relationships between senior executives. The creation of these relationships is intended to help grow and expand the local business environment.  A Sponsor Leader from each Gold and Silver sponsoring organization is invited to dine one-on-one with a CIO Host.  The CIO Host will make a personal introduction of the Sponsor Leader to the other attendees at the Executive Dinner.

Gold and Silver level sponsors receive a 30 minute office meeting with a GCLA Advisory Board CIO. Does this mean the sponsor can select to meet with any CIO who sits on the GCLA Advisory Board?

Ans> All Gold and Silver level sponsors are entitled to one 30 minute office meeting. However, choices cannot be assured. Participating CIOs have agreed to the 30 minute meeting as an expression of their sincerity for truly making this a community program. The purpose of the 30 minute meeting is to express gratitude for sponsor support and to increase awareness of the sponsor's service to the community. The 30 minute meetings will be distributed among the participating CIOs. All meetings will be scheduled during Q3-12.
